Introduction – What is the “2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development”?
The “2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development” is a UN action plan that aims to achieve certain environmental, economic, social, and institutional goals by 2030.
It sets out a total of 169 goals to be achieved in order to improve the world we live in and the one we will leave to future generations, from an environmental, social, and economic perspective.
Our initiative also participates in and contributes to achieving sustainability goals—particularly environmental and social ones—through all of our active projects: “Adopt or Give an Olive Tree in Salento,” “OlivaMi For Business,” and“Solidarity Favors.”

The 17 Goals of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development
The main objectives of this strategy have been grouped into 17 categories, collectively known as GOAL.
Specifically, what are the goals of our project?
Our initiative contributes in particular to the achievement of 10 goals:

GOAL 1: CREATE NEW EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITIES
We facilitate the sharing of resources, create new employment opportunities, promote cooperation for regional development and inclusive economic growth, and reduce financial inequality caused by environmental disasters.
GOAL 2: PROMOTESUSTAINABLE AGRICULTURE
We promote and implement sustainable, zero-impact farming techniques, ensuring the food safety of the extra virgin olive oil we produce from the fruit of our olive trees, as well as the health of the trees and the environment.
GOAL 6: SUSTAINABLEWATER MANAGEMENT
We use innovative farming techniques, commonly known as “precision agriculture,” which allow us to determine the exact amount of water each olive tree needs to grow healthily. This helps us use water resources more efficiently.
GOAL 8: DECENT WORK AND NATIONAL ECONOMIC GROWTH
We support the economic and sustainable growth of the Salento region and the nation as a whole by providing employment to farmers who have lost their jobs due to the Xylella bacterium and by contributing to the recovery of the Salento olive oil production chain.
GOAL 9: PROMOTESUSTAINABLE INNOVATION
We strive to achieve our goal by leveraging innovative “Agriculture 4.0” tools and technologies that have zero impact on the environment. In this way, we implement new approaches that foster development and engage the younger generations.
GOAL 11: PROTECTION AND PRESERVATION OF HERITAGE
The presence and planting of new olive trees help reducenegative environmental impact by offsetting CO2 emissions; we protect and preserve the cultural and natural heritage of our region.
GOAL 12: ENSURE SUSTAINABLE CONSUMPTION AND PRODUCTION PATTERNS
We are committed to developing and implementing sustainable consumption and production patterns that aim to minimize waste as much as possible and use available resources efficiently.
GOAL 13: COMBATING CLIMATE CHANGE
One strategy for offsetting CO2 emissions is precisely the planting of new trees, which is one of the most effective measures for combating climate change. In particular, olive trees can absorb up to 300 kg of CO2 per year.
GOAL 15: LIFE ON LAND
In addition to promoting the reforestation of Salento’s olive groves and the restoration of the landscape, we also help preserve biodiversity. We therefore support the development of the ecosystem and the survival of animal and plant species; we help prevent the degradation of Salento.
GOAL 17: PARTNERSHIPS FOR THE GOALS
We establish partnerships and collaborate actively and inclusively with various organizations across all sectors, with the aim of making a concrete and tangible contribution to achieving the Sustainable Development Goals set out in the 2030 Agenda

Small actions always have the greatest impact on our present, our future, and the future of those around us. Each of us plays a crucial role in making the world a better place—the world we want to see and leave for future generations.
The 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development seeks to convey the importance and values of sustainability and to raise awareness among businesses and households about engaging in sustainable practices that aim to promote the country’s economic development, build a united community, and address environmental issues—primarily those related to climate change.
Every step, no matter how small, counts, and we at our initiative know this all too well.
The businesses, families, and individuals who have supported us to date have not only helped revitalize the Salento region, but have also supported our farmers, protected the environment, and helped leave future generations a greener, more lush, and more productive region.
