We will immediately send you an adoption certificate and hang a wooden plaque on the tree with your name and the name of your olive tree.

By adopting an olive tree you will help a Salento farmer grow it and plant a new small olive tree replacing one affected by Xylella.

Adoption is annual and renewal is manual: 10 days before expiration we will send you an email to remind you to renew your adoption.

If you decide not to renew, your olive tree will stay there forever, you simply will not receive oil anymore.

ADOPTION IS ANNUAL?

The adoption fee is ANNUAL, but you can decide whether to renew the adoption next year when it expires. In fact, renewal is optional and manual. If you decide not to renew next year, the olive tree will remain with its assigned name and the tag will remain hanging. You simply will no longer receive oil.

If it is a gift, as it nears expiration, we will send you an email with a renewal request. At that time you can decide whether you will continue with the renewal or send, from our system, an email to the recipient with a request to continue with the adoption. Again, there is no constraint on renewal.

WHERE DO WE PLANT OLIVE TREES?

The adopted olive trees are planted among the countryside of Martano, Carpignano, Serrano and Borgagne, near Otranto. There is a large rural area here where a number of farmers operate and join the Olivami initiative.

OIL SHIPPING/COLLECTION COST

Oil can be shipped or picked up at the mill. Shipping is throughout Europe and the cost is calculated at the time of payment, after entering the shipping address. In Italy, the shipping cost is €6.80 up to 5 liters and €8 up to 10 liters. On this page you can find details of shipping rates.

Oil pickup at the mill is free of charge and can be made at any time after adoption. Il Frantoio is located in Martano (LECCE), on Via Zaca - Fondo Mauro.

WHEN IS THE OIL SHIPPED?

The oil is usually shipped after the olive harvest, starting in October and ending in May, in order for you to taste the fresh oil. However, if the adoption is done after May, it is possible to request early shipment of the oil. Simply reply to the adoption confirmation email or send an email to info.olivami@gmail.com requesting early shipment of the oil. Delivery will be within 5 working days.

HOW CAN I VISIT THE OLIVE TREES?

You can visit your olive tree(s) at any time. To best arrange your visit, we ask that you book it from this page, selecting your preferred date. The visit will start from the Frantoio, located in Martano (LECCE) on Zaca Street - Fondo Mauro, where Stefano will be there to welcome you.

PAYMENT METHODS

Adoption can be paid by Paypal, credit card or wire transfer. All payment methods are secure and encrypted so as to ensure data protection.

WHICH OLIVE TREES ARE PLANTED?

We plant two varieties of olive trees, Leccino and Favolosa, because they have proven to be resistant and tolerant to Xylella bacteria due to their physical characteristics. The planting pattern is traditional or semi-intensive, with about 250 olive trees per hectare.

WHEN DO I RECEIVE THE CERTIFICATE OF ADOPTION?

The adoption certificate is sent immediately after payment and can be downloaded directly from the adoption confirmation email or, alternatively, from the personal area. If payment is made by bank transfer, the certificate will be sent after we receive the bank transfer account.

In the case of a gift, the certificate is sent to the gift recipient on the date indicated in the space provided. If no date is entered, the certificate will be sent to the gift recipient immediately after payment. Those who perform the adoption will receive, immediately after payment, a copy of the certificate via e-mail and it will be copied in the e-mail sent to the recipient.

HOW CAN I GIVE AWAY ONE OR MORE OLIVE TREES?

To gift an adoption plan, simply check the "Is it a gift?" box placed immediately after the space dedicated to the name of the olive tree(s). Fields to be filled in will then appear.

The name of the recipient will be the name that will appear on the adoption certificate.

In the e-mail field you can enter the e-mail of the recipient, so we will send the e-mail with the adoption certificate. Alternatively, if you want to hand-deliver or do not know the e-mail, you can leave the field blank or enter your own e-mail. This way we will not send any e-mail to the recipient.

You will also be able to add a personalized message that will appear on the adoption certificate and tell us the date you want the certificate sent.

Even in the case of a gift, immediately after payment, you will receive a copy of the certificate via email and you will be copied into the email we send to the recipient.

As the expiration date approaches, we will send you an email with a renewal request. At that time you can decide whether you will continue with the renewal or send, from our system, an email to the recipient with a request to continue with the adoption. Again, there is no constraint on renewal.

All the funds raised with your adoptions are used to plant and grow the new olive trees and a small part to support the costs related to the association.

    RESISTANT TO THE BACTERIUM

    We plant the only two varieties of olive trees (Leccino and Favolosa) that have been shown to be resistant and tolerant to Xylella bacteria due to their physical characteristics.

    BIODIVERSITY

    To ensure biodiversity, we also plant other plant species along the perimeter of our olive groves, many of them native, such as holm oaks, oaks, figs and many others.

        Adopt an Olive Tree: Frequently Asked Questions

        Is the adoption fee single or annual?

        The adoption fee is ANNUAL , but you can decide to renew the adoption at the time of the deadline.

        Renewal is done manually. We will notify you of the deadline about ten days in advance by email.

        What name can I give to my tree?

        You can name it however you like: with your name, the name of a loved one, a fancy name, the name of a place or what it symbolizes for you (happiness, freedom, peace, etc.).

        If you adopt more than one olive tree, you may decide to assign a single name to the entire olive grove or one name for each tree, dividing them with a comma or hyphen.

        When it comes to a gift usually the adopted tree is assigned the recipient’s name or nickname.

        The name of the olive tree will appear on the adoption certificate and on the plaque hanging on the tree, along with the first and last name of the person who adopted it or who will receive it as a gift.

        When will I receive the oil?

        The oil will be shipped approximately during the harvest period, which is from October to March, but if you need to have it right away we can ship it even earlier. It will be sufficient to send us an email to the following address: info.olivami@gmail.com .

        We will package your oil accurately and safely, to get the product to arrive in top condition.

        What am I entitled to for each adoption?

        Depending on the adoption plan you choose (Basic, Silver, Gold, Platinum) you will receive a certain amount of EVO oil, which will vary in the following years.

        With the Basic plan you will receive 1 liter of oil for the first 3 years, while for the next two years you will be entitled to 1.5 liters of oil, rising to 2 liters per olive tree past the first 6 years.

        It is also possible to add liters of oil to those already present in the basic plan : just select the quantity, which will be added to those already provided.

        At the time of adoption, we will send you a certificate showing your name and the location of your tree (so you can visit them whenever you wish).

        Where are my olive trees planted?

        The new Olive Trees are being planted in the province of Lecce, in the area of Carpignano Salentino, Martano, Borgagne, and Melendugno, where several farmers who have joined the Olivami initiative operate.

        Can I give one or more olive trees as a gift?

        Of course. It is possible to give one or more olive trees as a gift . Just select, in the plan sheet, the option “ it’s a gift “.

        At that point you can enter the recipient’s name and surname, indicate his e-mail address (so that he can receive the communication of the gift), a personalized message, and the date of delivery of the gift.

        How does Olivami work?
