Adopt an Olive Tree, Salento is in serious danger!
Adopt an Olive Tree in Puglia, Salento! In the past 5 years MORE THAN 21 MILLION olive trees in Salento have been destroyed by the Xylella bacterium.
Xylella Fastidiosa is a bacterium that attacks the lymph vessels of the olive tree, thus preventing the plant from feeding and leading, in a very few months, to the death of the tree after complete desiccation of the branches.
But the entirely destroyed landscape is not the only effect of Xylella…
Over 5,000 farmers lost everything: jobs, history, memories and heritage.
The pollution rate has increased by 8 percent, and the land is becoming increasingly dry.
Italian olive oil was reduced by 50% (Puglia accounted for 49%)
How can you help us? Adopt an Olive Tree in Salento!
We founded Olivami®, a recognized association registered in the Single Register of Third Sector Entities, because we have to do something and now.
We need to recover the greenness of Salento that has always been represented by olive trees to defend our identity, our values and the lives of our farmers. Help us too, adopt an olive tree!
HOW DO WE DO IT?
Through the ADOPTION OF ULIVES!
In this way we raise resources to plant new small olive trees resistant to the Xylella bacteria , particularly the Leccino and Favolosa species, supporting the farmers who will grow them!
In this way, we will be able to breathe new life into the farmer and his olive grove, foster the economic recovery of Salento and support the production of Italian extra virgin olive oil.
All of our olive groves are organically managed and created to preserve biodiversity: plants and trees of native species, such as oleander, prickly pear, oak, laurel, strawberry tree… are planted on the perimeter of the olive groves.

Would you like to receive assistance with your adoption?
1. To fight against Xylella
In the last 5 years, over 21 million olive trees have disappeared, destroyed by Xylella and over 5,000 olive growers have lost fields, jobs and traditions, reducing the production of Salento oil by 80%.
2. To reduce the environmental impact .
Over the past 5 years, the pollution rate has increased by 8% . Each hectare of olive trees removes 9.5 tons of CO2 from the atmosphere every year. That is about 730 Kg of CO2 per year for each olive tree.
3. To offer a true EVO oil
We want to return to offering our organic extra virgin olive oil , with verified quality and origin, produced with cutting-edge techniques that allow us to have zero environmental impact .

Adopt an olive tree: Frequently Asked Questions
Is the adoption fee single or annual?
The adoption fee is ANNUAL , but you can decide to renew the adoption at the time of the deadline.
Renewal is done manually. We will notify you of the deadline about ten days in advance by email.
Where are my olive trees planted?
The new Olive Trees are being planted in the province of Lecce, in the area of Carpignano Salentino, Martano, Borgagne, Melendugno, Otranto and Maglie, where several farms operate that have joined the Olivami initiative.
What name can I give to my tree?
You can name it however you like: with your name, the name of a loved one, a fancy name, the name of a place or what it symbolizes for you (happiness, freedom, peace, etc.).
If you adopt more than one olive tree, you may decide to assign a single name to the entire olive grove or one name for each tree, dividing them with a comma or hyphen.
When it comes to a gift usually the adopted tree is assigned the recipient’s name or nickname.
The name of the olive tree will appear on the adoption certificate and on the plaque hanging on the tree, along with the first and last name of the person who adopted it or who will receive it as a gift.
When will I receive the oil?
The shipment of the oil will take place approximately during the harvest period, ie from October to December , but if you need it immediately we can send it even earlier. It will be sufficient to send us an email to the following address: info.olivami@gmail.com .
We will package your oil accurately and safely, to get the product to arrive in top condition.
What am I entitled to for each adoption?
Depending on the adoption plan you choose (Basic, Silver, Gold, Platinum) you will receive a certain amount of Organic EVO oil, which will vary in the following years.
With the Basic plan you will receive 1 liter of oil for the first 3 years, while for the next two years you will be entitled to 1.5 liters of oil, rising to 2 liters per olive tree past the first 6 years.
It is also possible to add liters of oil to those already present in the basic plan : just select the quantity, which will be added to those already provided.
At the time of adoption, we will send you a certificate showing your name and the location of your tree (so you can visit them whenever you wish).
Can I give one or more olive trees as a gift?
Of course. It is possible to give one or more olive trees as a gift . Just select, in the plan sheet, the option “ it’s a gift “.
At that point you can enter the recipient’s name and surname, indicate his e-mail address (so that he can receive the communication of the gift), a personalized message, and the date of delivery of the gift.
